2 questions at once about chains
Does anyone know what kind of grease chains manufacturers put on their chains? Reason I ask is that the grease that comes on a new chain seems "sticky" and chain stays lubricated well with that grease, so I would like to clean and relube chain with that type of grease. Question #2: Has anyone regeared their bike to the 15/41 combo and cut their chain or replaced the chain with a new one and compensated for the gearing? It looks like to me to get full adjustment out of the new chain with the 15/41 combo it is a 103 link instead of the original 106.

I am probably wrong, but a product I used a couple of weeks ago on my 650R reminds me a LOT of the stuff that was on my 250's chain when I bought it brand new.
PJ1 blue label. Completely clear, makes the chain look wet and new, but it's super tacky and doesn't seem to attract dirt. It's the closest I've come to OEM chain lube.

I think new chains are usually waxed. You need to remove the chain, drop it into the hot chain wax and let it cool.
Personally, I use a ScottOiler to keep the chain lubed. There are a lot of different products around though.
