Default 08 250R unstabble idle and bogging out

just got an 08 250r and am having a problem with the idle. it never stays steady. it always is jumping from 1200-1500rpm. also if i gradually open the throttle it revs smooth. now if i open it quickly like 1/2 to 3/4 open it bogs out and wants to stall if i dont let the throttle go. it has a two bros slip on. i asked the guy i bought it from if it was rejetted when it was put on and he said he doesnt know he got it like that. someone please help! thanks

Welcome to KF and congrats on the bike. The 08 250 is still carburated right? So the basic principles still apply?

thanks! yes it is carburated. do you think it might have something to do with the jets? or do you think the carbs need to be cleaned maybe? im lost. i had 3 people say different things and ofcourse kawasaki said to get it rejeted since i dont know how to do that and theyll make $200 off me. just a little bummed cause i just got it and its just having that little prob already.

i think so but im not sure. i am the 3rd owner (just got it a week ago) and it only has 2600 miles on it and the guy before me had it for a year. it looks like he left it in the rain more than a few times cause few bolts have calcium build up on them. other than that though it runs perfect once youre going. just bogs down if you hit the throttle too hard. airbox and filter look good too.

Go through the carbs for cleaning and inspection. Check your manual on your pilot screw adjustment as well. Generally 2 1/4 turns out from fully seated. If it sat, I would go to basics and just clean the carbs and go from there.
