01 Ninja idle rpm's ?

Default 01 Ninja idle rpm's ?

Hey guys , I just picked up an 01 ninja and I was wondering what everyones bike idles at usually . When i fire mine up it normally sits at 3k ish or so rpm's , Is this unusually high or about average ?

That's a bit high. There is an idle adjustment **** on the left side, sort of by the fuel selector lever on the tank. If you turn it counterclockwise, that will lower the idle. The bike should be set around 1,300 RPM's.

P.S. Make sure you only adjust the idle once the bike has fully warmed up, and without the choke on.

after i went for a long ide today i was idling at a red light and it was about 2k. I thought this seemed a little high. I have 350 miles on my 07 and I just scheduled the first une up for next week so I'll have them adjust it.

Ya seemed a bit high , When im turning that bolt is it ok to have the bike on or should i turn it off , Also about how long should i let the engine warm up ? 10min or so ?

Ten minutes is good. It really doesn't matter if the engine is running while you turn that adjustment ****. Just turn it slowly until it gets down to the desired RPM's. (VERY easy to do.)

yea 1500 rpms is good. I usualy run my 636 about 1300rpms.

vacuum hoses, check them. Don't touch that idle screw unless shes wamed up first.
