Congrats on the new KLX, enjoy the soon to be mods

 

you guys riding it in the dirt or just on the street? Any mods... thing seems real weak but I guess it depends on what you have rode in the past. I just got the DJ in the mail, looks very simple now that I see the actual hardware. I hope to have the exhaust and jet in by end of the month...getting it ready for the dirt.

 

no dirt yet as it the sf only got 90ish miles tons of rain snow and COLD to contend with i like the low end tourque but i came off a 84 interceptor 700 mods soon but not quite yet need money

 

Ive been riding my 250s everywhere, including on the dirt. The power is a factor at the moment, seems to be lacking a little. I have talked to a few people about this issue and they all assure me that as soon at the motor breaks in, I will have more compression, thus more power. There are rings that go around the piston, once they settle and harden the bike is good to go. just hit 300miles! http://kawasakiklx250s.blogspot.com/

Hi everyone,

I'm new owner here learning to maintain my bike.
I just got my 2010 klx250 (with fuel injection) in April.
Just finished first change of oil & filter as manual suggested at 1000km (600 mile).
I use Japanese brand: SpeedMaster 10w40 SL/CF but without Jaso MA mark.
It's 1180km on odometer now.

Question:
Are you folks specific about choosing oil? What points do you focus on? Do you really wait till 12000 km (7500 mile) to do 2nd oil & filter change or ealier?

Oil changes for me were 1st @ 40, then 200 then 500 then 1000 then every 3000, Using Amsoil full Synthetic.

I found this forum huge, I'm still not orientated enough to go where I want to. I spent sometime to return to this lead. Now I have difficulty to find the questionaire you want new guy to fill in. To show my respect, hereunder is some of my background story:

I drink whatever beer and eat whatever icecream my wife keep in the refrigerater. And she most probably buy whatever is on sale.
I've learned to enjoy whatever there may be in the house only if she allow me to ride on...
