ninja 250 or 650
ima pretty big boy at about 310 but I'm only about 5'4.im 22 and I've rode on 2 wheels a lot of my life.. as a kid i was always on bikes and wen i got old enough i had a dirt bike..it was an old honda trail bike not anything too big.. i stopped riding for awhile and now I've decided i want to get back into it.. my grandpa was a harley guy and i kno id love to get a harley.. but at my experience and at my budget it seems like a street bike is where id like to go with my 1st bike. besides i do already have a harley( my grandpas bike b4 he passed away was a ultra classic electro glide) but i don't feel comfortable sitting on it as far as my ability to control it..also i do like sports bikes and i plan on owning a few different bikes.. now my question is would a 650 b better for someone my size and height? or can a 250 be good enough if i didn't keep it stock? reason i ask is my friend is selling his 2009 250 for 2grand to me, and with the extra 500 i have saved up i could maybe put it into suspension? or another upgrade?

Welcome, UnEd. Since you have some prior riding experience and have more weight to consider, I'd suggest the 650. Alot of the decision depends on your budget, skills, maturity, etc. I think you would find the 250 to be a stylish moped, even with suspension upgrades, etc., (IMHO) you want your bike to have enough power to get you out of a bad situation (rather than be an under-powered sitting duck.) Let us know what you decide. But, whatever you decide, GEAR-UP!
Welcome again.

I have to agree with Jeff, based on your weight and previous motorcycling experience I think a 650 would be a better choice. A 250 Ninja looks decent, but once you're on it for a while you'll quickly discover how small it is.

doesn't matter which one or anything really.......get something you feel comfortable on .......at 5'4" I'm thinking about how long your legs are. Find something you can get your leg over and cheap because your bound to drop it off the stand a couple of times sooner or later.
Also save your money for safety gear and future breakdowns with that HD

i went into the dealer today to get sum help with my decision..i sat on both bikes and the 650 is about 2 or so inches too tall for me..BUT the dealer explained to me that a 250 would be difficult for sum one my size to ride at highway speeds..he said it would be sufficient enough as an around the town kinda bike but I just can't imagine gavin a bike that can't leave my LITTLE TOWN( to give an example how small it is let me mention we have 3 stop lights in the whole town and they are on 1 road that is about 2-3 miles long.) so he recommend a lowering kit? and said it could lower it about an inch and that i COULD be ok with that much of a drop if i tried it and i liked it..he also said he has known ppl that will shave off the seat because the new 650 has a 4inch padded seat.. so my question is are lowering kits going to effect my steering/braking/manuvering significantly? and shaving the seats is that going to be a bad idea? i figure i need about 2 inch and i can lower it an inch with the kit and lower the seat 2 inch just to be safe...or lower it 2 on the seat and not use the lowering kit..i don't want to shave the seat too much because i will be riding often and maybe for long trips..
and thank you for your guys help i really appreciate it

Have your dealership set the sags for you before you ride off into the sunset. There is a good chance that once set up for you, that the ride will be a comfy ride that meets your inseam discrepancies.
