Welcome, Cari. I absolutely agree with Deej^ regarding women having mechanical chops. That's VERY cool. Glad to have you with us on the forums. I'm always encouraged when women riders sign-on, here. (Not being weird or sexist; I've encouraged my daughter to learn mechanical chops and to ride motorcycles, too.) There is "independence" and "respect" when you learn how to assemble and repair stuff! It's not about male or female; that's the default argument people use who have NO chops! I say "good for you, Cari!"
Take your time on the riding experience. As mentioned^ do the MSF course. "Process" after every ride; identify your learning. Always wear gear.
