Very, very cool, Davey!! That's some uncle you have! How long has it been sitting, and what year is it? Do you already ride, or would this be your first? Post up some pics; we'd love to see it.
Welcome aboard. Let us know how we can help.

I won't argue that statistics are grim for bikers who crash. However, I'm also willing to bet that those who survive are the ones who "prepare for the crash" before they leave their driveway. Many of us on here ride in all kinds of weather and temps. The difference, is that we know our limits, dress in proper gear, ALWAYS wear a helmet, and don't tempt the fates (yes; plural) by riding as if there is no tomorrow. Those who DO, typically fulfill their own prophecy. There ARE morons on the road, and unfortunately some of them are bikers!
Stay with us. Take a riding class. Fix up that bike. Get and WEAR proper gear. I think you'll find it to be a great experience. Glad to have you with us.

Congrats on the new ride and welcome to KF
As mentioned, if you decide to take some classes, gear up and prepare for anything, then you may really enjoy the new ride or maybe another ride out there that catches your fancy. There is absolutely no replacement for being on the open road or hitting the trails. I am an addict to riding in all kinds of weather, although there are days that sitting next to the fire is more tempting.

Welcome to the forums!
Well you'll hear no arguments from us about the "morons" on the road. All the experience in the world cant prepare you for a drunk driver or some tool texting on his or her phone. But there are things that we can do to increase our ability to handle most situations.
