insurance? im a noob still have not got my klx250 yet, please help
ay whats up guys, im just about to purchase one of these awesome klx 250 beasts...just wondering how much insurance would be(just make a guess, i know its different for everyone), but im 22, no accidents, only two prior 13 and under speeding tickets, live in NC, clean record, no DUI's, also, do you HAVE to have a motorcycle license, or does it just help...and are there like safety classes available to reduce rates? thanks guys..

Welcome to KF! You will need your endorsement if you plan on riding the bike on the streets. (That I am aware of anyways)

Welcome to KF, ask the klx guys about the bike questions, and I think fn is in NC...he may be able to help you with the licensing stuff.

Can't help you with the insurance end of things. I'm insured and its not that much even though I just got my motorcycle license 18 months ago. I've been driving though for 27 years.
I tend to bet, though I don't know the laws of your state, that you actually don't have to have a license if you're on private property and private roads but it sure helps if you take the bike out on the street and get stopped!!!
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation classes are actually worth it and they gave me waiver on the riding portion of the State's motorcycle license test if you pass the ridingtest at the end of the test. You have to have your permit, at least where I live, before you can take the course though. 2 or 3 days in a classroom and out onbig parking lot riding 250s. You get the hang of it pretty quick especially if you've ridden before but like anything itjust takes to time to build your skillsafter you get your license.

Regarding the waiver, it makes sense: why take the same test twice if you've already passed it the first time around!!!! The course's test is the same as the motor vehicle people's test; they've already approved it. It's basicallyjust sub-contracting their powersto a private provider/sub-contractor and that happens all the time with government agencies, they hire private businesses to do work for them.
