First bike?

First bike?
Hey guys, I'm sure this question has been asked millions of times but I was wondering which bike would be better to get. I have my sister's husband buying a '04 Suzuki Katana 600 next week and I was wondering if that would be a decent bike to start out with because they were gonna sell it to me next year. Or should I just try to wait and save up for the Ninja 250? And another question, if ya'll say the Katana 600 is a okay bike to start out with would I be missing anything (( Skills, etc )) that I would of recieved by riding the 250? Thanks in advance and have a wonderful day.

RE: First bike?
I don't believe there is a certain size people need to start out with. If you want a practical machine, the 250R is perfect. It gets amazing gas mileage, and costs very little to maintain. Another thing about the 250R is that it will easily out handle most larger bikes. Now, if you are a speed freak, and can see yourself wanting effortless acceleration, buy a 600 or larger bike. (And save up for the speeding tickets!)

It is always nice to feel comfortable on any ride especially as a new rider. Any skills are obtainable after you are comfy with the ride and can concentrate on one or two items instead of 10 items.

RE: First bike?
Real quick question. My friend that was gonna sell the Katana raised it up to $6,500 and I don't feel like paying that for my first bike. So my question is does anyone near Virginia that's trying to sell their motorcycle?

RE: First bike?
That is an outrageous price for a used, slow, kantuna. You can get a new zzr600 for near that priceand it is faster and lighter than the katana. Look in the classifieds and this time of year you should be able to get a much better deal on a bike. Good luck

RE: First bike?
Yeah, a Katana isn't worth that much. He's smoking something. The 750 Katana's aren't even that fast, they're a joke. Go with the Ninja 500 would be my advice. It's small enough to be good for a beginner, but you won't outgrow it as quickly as a 250.
