Default 1985 Vulcan 700

Hi Gang!
New to this forum; I have completed about 90% of a "historic restoration" on an original
1985 Vulcan 700 and I'm seeking advise.
My question to the forum, who is known for providingservice and repairs for this model
who works in the Dallas, Ft. Worth area in North Texas. There are areas that I need to
"leave to the professionals" in assuring it will be safeso I may take short-hall trips with
confidence.
The Kawasaki dealer in Ft. Worth will not service models manufactured prior to 1992.
Is this common? Are most of the "older" Kawasakis' serviced by Independent Service
Shops or individuals working in their garages?

Thanking you in advance for your help!

Welcome to KF. Now that you're here, how about posting up some pics of your work? As far as the mechanics, any Kawasaki dealer should be able to help you. I don't know what the problem is.

I couldn't say since I don't live in your area, but I would likely trust the well known (non dealership) repair shop. The shop doesn't have to be an exclusive Kawasaki shop to do good work on your bike. If you can, get some opinions from other riders in your area about the best shop to go to.

welcome to kf. that is the first i ever heard of a dealer not wanting to work on a older bike. usually the older bikes are easier to deal with. id find a different place like mark said.

Actually, my local dealer turned me down for the 400 mile service on my Eliminator. However, it was justified because their mechanics had just quit!

that should be a sign to that that dealership has some issues.

Actually, I've been really happy with the dealership other than that. There's two dealerships within a few miles, but I like the one I buy from. I've already bought 2 brand new motorcycles from them within 3 months... and when I get home, I'm going to buy another one from them.
