Default New rider with a bike problem

I'm pretty much brand new to riding and just picked up a kawasaki kx250 and as I was riding around getting use to it the throttle went limp. The handle just lost all tension and the bike sits at idle when started so I took the cover off the spool-thing on the handle and the throttle cable can't be pulled out anymore or pushed in any. I'm guessing I broke the cable. What do you guys think?

Look at your carb, make sure both throttle cables are seated in the bracket.

Sorry it's taking me so long to reply, I've been busy with work. I found out the bike is a 96 and I traced the cable back to the carb and I unscrewed the top where the cable goes in and inside there was a spring but no cable going into the carb. This is the first time I've ever worked on a dirt bike so I have no clue what I'm doing lol

Thanks for the help turns out the throttle cable was only pulled off the carb slide.
