Default 2000 KX250 - Hotwiring and too good of a deal?

So I came across this 2000 KX250 for sale. I emailed the guy for pics, it looks in tip top shape. He's asking only 750$ for it, no ownerships and he said he can't start it because it's not hotwired. In my knowledge of these old 2 strokes, (atleast my old KX80) had no ignition, it was crank and go. If not, how do I hotwire this bike? He told me before buying it I can try to start it.

None the less, at this point I believe this bike is stolen. I told him I would come and see it Friday night, and bring a friend. While I look at the bike my friend will look at the serial number (If it's still there) then we'll check if it's stolen or not.

So my questions are, if you need to hot wire them and where is the serial number located? Near the forks, like on my KLX?

Thanks

"...he said he can't start it because it's not hotwired."

Reeeeealy? <snort> That's a good one. Let me guess, he "lost the keys."

And this bike has a clean Certificate of Title, does it? Ask to see it.

Drive him crazy....take lots of pics of it; front, sides, rear, engine, serial #. He'll begin to sweat if it's stolen. When that happens, it's time for you to leave.

Good luck.

I went back to see the bike, the serial number was grinded off and the bike had no ignition (obviously) so I asked him where the key goes. He said he had no idea. So you know I just went along with his story, I got on, drained the gas inside (The gas was yellow as hell and no blue so it wasn't mixed) and put my own. Put the choke on, within 4 cranks it started right up. I turned it off and contacted my girlfriends dad, which is a OPP officer. He came and seen it and it was the bike that was reported stolen 6 weeks ago. I don't know what happened after that, but it's just to show be careful before you buy!
