And yet another Ride Report from this spring.
Decided to do some more exploring of the Bonavista trail again today.
Didn't start off to well.....one should never hang their coat on the handlebar and warm up the bike while tightening up their boots. What's that funny smell....Doh!!!
Not to serious, never went all the way through...onwards we go.
How about a little map first:
Gas up at the CT gas bar and hit the trail at Shoal Harbour. From Georges Brook to the airstrip, pavement has to be used. At the airstrip you can jump back on the trail again.
First obstruction.... not a good sign of possible trail fixing-up:
A single lone tree with branches hanging in the trail....pretty bad if something as trivial as this is fixed. Actually, the trail close to the Bonavista Highway is fixed up a bit...more likely by one of the farm owners for ease of access. Once across the highway by Morley's Siding you can continue on for a ways. Bit washed out in places.
Here the trench was too narrow to use kickstand so I just laid her over a bit:
Just past this it gets worse.
Doesn't looks as bad in the picture...its down about two feet and theres a good washout on the end.
Plus some freaky creatures started coming out of the woods by the washout :
I decide to turn tail as fast as possible.
As you can see from the map I almost got back to the same place from the opposite end.
Anyway, continue on the trail thru Lethbridge. Beautiful spot. Nice clean trail with lots of whoops... I like it a lot.
Few more washouts in town:
Continue on the trail to see how far I can get. Encountered a fair bit of water on this stretch. Some of the puddles quite long:
This bridge crevice sits in a depression and sneaks up on ya. Would not want the front tire to drop down there I tells ya. :
I get a fair ways in then I encounter this sorta dam thing happening:
Considering the amount of sticks and the four feet or so of water, I think it best to turn around. :cool;
Headed back to Clarenville sticking to the trails as much as possible and done a little bit of sidetrack exploring on the way.
Had a wonderful afternoon and can't wait to go back at it again tomorrow.
Thanx for lookin'.
Relic.
