uhhh, yeah........last September the world saw it. It's around $1100 more msrp, or $1400 more than my quote I got on a cash deal Wednesday for a new '09 KLX250. Imagine what $1400 could do to the KLX.

 

What does it do?...run around on the beach sticking its nose in the sand looking for clams?...or maybe it's one of those gooney goo goo birds I saw at Midway Island.

Click on his link in the first post andlook at that Yammie motard. I looks like some kind of scavenging sea bird critter! Maybe a giant sand piper?...check out the 'beak.'

 

I don't like the shroud to tank fitment of that area. The shouds don't look like they were fit very well to integrate into the tank like on the KLX. The headlight is also very dated looking. I wonder why they didn't integrate the WR woods bike headlight into the street version, it would have made for a much more appealing frontend.

 

Iowa, how long till you get the 09 klx?

On the Yammi, I just called my local dealer, the sales "kids" actually ride and I know em.

Here's the scoop, it does have more power than my klx before mods for sure....probably 24-25 hp stock at the tire....they said it's stopped up, just like our bike, and needs a pipe an power commander plus of course letting it breath. Overall nice bike, with pipe an commander mods it should be close to 29 hp at the tire....but thats just a guess based upon the stock performance.

Breaking out my crystal ball ..... I bet a 340 klx w/fcr would be just a little better or equal to a 250r with pipe and commander mods. but who knows .... we'll see.

Btw they had already sold all three they got, but they should have one in the week after next and said I could test ride it. As soon as I do I'll posta report.

 

I don't post this with intentions of stirring the pot, but from the specs I've read they have the dry weight at 273lbs? and the price is the same as a DRZ400? I think I'd go for the 400 over the 250 Yami if I had to choose. BUT much prefer the seat height and weight of my KLX.

 

Yes you do..lol

A drz-S version weighs about 300 lbs...or more than both bikes.... I think the new 09 klx weighs the same as the Yammi... or about 10lbs more that the 06-07 klx.

PS....I wish my klx seat was a couple inches higher like the Yammi

But if I were to get another small displacement bike it would be that 08 ktm 300 XC-W....a two-smoke w/electric start that I can tag in Florida otd for about $6,500.....but that's expensive and I will NEVER buy a new release bike again......I bet this Yammi and the ktm I lust over will be a LOT cheaper in a year.....just like the klx is now......so it looks like the klx is getting at least another 6k miles, maybe more
