RE: xtended warranty...worth it?
deej is right.
I've bought GTPP's in the past on several Kawasaki bikes and Watercraft's and not once had the dealer or Kawasaki flip me an ounce of ****.
Lousy dealer = lousy service no matter what warranty you get.

RE: xtended warranty...worth it?
Well, I've been pro-extended warranty because I have got my monies worth from the one on my 2001 GMC Z71. I don't plan on modding heavily (just the standards ) and from what I've read the standard 13t front, high flow airbox, slip-on, and rejetting should not effect warranty.
As for the local dealer, I'm not impressed with them so far (at least the sales folks), but there are3 other dealers within a 2 hr radius. Plus, with my job I move around quite a bit so I would not have to deal with a bad shop or a long drive for too long.
I have good tools and am mechanically inclined (restored cars as a kid with my dad), but have never worked on a bike. Can anyone recommend a book or dvd? Can I buy a kawasaki shop techs manual at a fair price?
I plan on keeping the bikefor a few years, don't plan on beating it, but I do have the curse when it comes to getting vehicles with the rare problem/defects .

RE: xtended warranty...worth it?
I guess what I should be asking ...does the lack of a proven history (this model has only been around 2 yrs) dictate getting the extended warranty? If this was a proven model that had been out a few years I would say no to the warranty, but there doesn't seem to be a good answer yet as to known problems or long term reliability of this model (am I wrong?). What have folks had go wrong in the last two years?

I think this particular engine has been around for several years and proven to be very reliable. It's been in Japan as the D-Tracker, and aside from bore, some internals, and electric start, it is the same as the KLX300.

RE: xtended warranty...worth it?
Id like to get an extended warrenty by time after gettin the bike, paid for it all at once, used with 87 miles on it for an 2006 @$3,996. and the warrenty ran out like the next month and just didnt have enough money. If it were still possible to get it extended id do it cause i ride the hell out of the bike almost everyday.
