Default Wiring an iPhone to the battery

I bought a Ram Mount iPhone holder for my bike. I was wondering if there is a way to wire the charging cable to the bike. Has anyone done that?

Easiest way would probably be to wire in a 12v cigarette lighter style power outlet and just use a car charger.

I have a Honda ST 1300 and have the Iphone with a battery case and 2 GPS units all wired for power. Do not try and direct wire anything like this to the bike, 12 volts bad for something only needing 5. Here is a picture.

All three are plugged in using the cig plugs.

(Deej has to take the long way around the municipal scrap yard, so the big electromagnet doesn't yank him off the highway......)

Seriously, the Deej is a good dude. He can be my "wing man" any day on an extended ride.

I'm sorry, it's been a while since I've had a bike and forgot a lot of these things.

Can I buy a motorcycle cigarette adapter that I can attached to the battery terminals and then run the wire to the handlebars?

No apologies needed, yea, I've seen ones guys mount to the handle bars. So the plug is easily accessed. They have ones with a weather resistant/proof cover. And run the permanent wires to the battery.

You can buy a universal cig adapter from the auto parts places. I bought one that has a door on it with a gasket to keep water out. You can hook it up directly to the battery just make sure you install an inline fuse for safety.
