Wider tire on rear of 250sf?

I'm not sure about the front, but I'd guess that +10mm probably wouldn't hurt.

From what I gathered after analyzing my own 250SF is that the 140 tire is about right. (some sites even listed the stock rim as being too wide for the 130 tire!) The 150 tire would be way too close to the swingarm for my comfort, and the stock rim would be close to being too narrow for the 150.
The Pirelli Sport Demons 140 rear seems to be the best bet for a sticky bias-ply tire that will still use the inner-tube that the rear is designed for. Same for the front. I couldnt see a reason to go with a 120 front tire since most sites have them listed with weight loading that far exceeds the 250SF. Keep in mind that the 600cc and 1000cc supersports and the 1300cc+ hypersports are using the 120s. Seems overkill for this little bike that weighs 290 pounds after some weight has been shed from it. I plan to stick with the 110s.
Anyways, I am still using the stock IRC tires right now on mine and have not had any grip problems yet. The front sticks well and I have not slid the rear yet... despite me riding it pretty hard at times. These are the same tires as on the Ninja 250R.
My money has been better spent on a FMF PowerBomb header, FMF Q4 exhaust, Twin Air air filter, Dynojet jet kit, and next on my list is the 351 big bore kit and 15-tooth front sprocket. If I dont see any traction issues with that more powerful setup, then I will beat the heck out of the stock tires and wear them out... then order the Pirelli Sport Demon 140 rear and 110 front.

I thought the same about the stock tires till today. I was riding "The Snake" today near Malibu and almost lost the front end! There was nothing on the road in the corner and the tires were warmed up too. I seriously think my dirt bike riding experience is what saved me, instead of freaking out I was able to get my foot down to the pavement and hang out the other to counter ballance untill the tire decided to grab again. The tire just simply could not hang! I will be getting a stickier tire very soon!

This is a very good "sticky" front. Control tyres for the AUS supermotard series. Rear section will be too big at 160 section but the front will be fine as it's a 120 section.

I'm currently running with Michelin Pilot Activ's with 140 on the rear and 110 front. No issues what-so-ever with traction. What I like about these tires is they have superior traction on both wet and dry surfaces and don't wear quite as quickly as the super sticky, purely sport tires like the Pilot Power or the Pirellis you mentioned.
I really don't think these bikes carry the power or speed to make the super-sticky, hi-wear tires necessary, but to each his own.
