Why doesn't my low fuel light go on?

I ride my klx250 off road 95% of the time- I hit reserve at 45-65 miles- so I installed a clarke tank. at 2.7 gallons it was a big help. I also have a fcr 35- 331 kit, fourstroke works header and slipon, 13t.

Oh, and on the subject of low fuel warning, you will also noticed pretty prounced backfiring if you are doing a lot of accel/decel.

The only diffence between 'on' and 'reserve' is the level of the pickup inside the tank. The 'On' pickup tube sets higher in the tank, and starts sucking air at around the .4 gallon level.

I have not seen any message on my odometer either.
Every time I parked the bike I practiced flipping the fuel C/O while I was still sitting on the bike and holding the clutch.
I have gotten pretty good at flipping that reserve switch with my right hand without looking. I have needed to do it twice in busy Los Angeles traffic so far.

Rode on the reserve today and filled up 1.507 gallons. That tank was soo full this time since I filled up while sitting on the bike upright instead of on its stand. $5.60!
Let's see when this stutter issue starts again. Nothing on the way home...I'll be very disappointed if it starts within 40 miles. When do you guys notice the stutter? Maybe I'm running too lean? It's a stock setup.

I guess I'm just concerned about this motor stutter thing. I'm not convinced that it's a low fuel thing yet. Also the fact that the manual says a light should come on, and it doesn't. I really don't want to be sitting in the median turn area waiting to pull onto a 2 lane highway with a speed limit of 70mph, with blind hills, and have to worry about motor stutter because I've used a single gallon of gas. That's only 3/4 of the "main" tank. I'll find out soon enough when it kicks in. If it's before 50 miles I'm calling the dealer I got it from.
