Why doesn't my low fuel light go on?

also, yes the '09 says 91 is required on the side panel sticker but other places it says 87 so who knows. I run 87 mostly w/no problems. I once got 85 mpg on my 200 mile weekend road ride.

2 questions, while filling with the petcock set to main, will that automatically fill the reserve too?
Also, how do I know when to stop? I know not to fill so the underneath of the cap touches, but is there a line or something on the inside I can go by? I suppose I can go by number of gallons pumped out, but that's not as exact.
You are right, 111 miles/1.5 gallons is 74mpg
I did 111/1.9 to get to 64. If indeed your motor dies from fuel starvation with the petcock on main, and you switch to reserve and have 1/2 a gallon left, I was doing pretty good.
Cool. Not cool about the motor dying or the motor stutter. I'll pay extra attention when I fill up tomorrow and note when it starts after X miles.
Thanks!

Also the manual says a minimum of 87 is required on page 36 for the 2009 model.
Then, on page 161, label information, it says 91 is the minimum.
Hmmm...maybe I'll save the 91 for the ***** to the wall days?

OK, so how do I know it rises into the filler neck without shutting the cap?

my bike runs the same on both grades of fuel. I just never run ethanol in it which is hard not to do here in Corn Moines, IA. 87 reg. and you'll be just fine. higher octane doesn't mean higher performance by any means.

when filling up your bike just look in the hole and you can see where the filler neck ends. its usually about an inch down. you dont wanna fill past that because it could create too much pressure..from what i understand
