Why does the KLX take so much flak?

Why does the KLX take so much flak?
I don't get it, people call our 18-19 hp KLXs useless underpowered campgrounds bikes, yet praise the 14-15hp TTR225s as great offroad/trail bikes that are brilliant for the price point.
I don't get it. I've seen people run enduros on the TTR225 with much praise, but try the same thing on a KLX and people will say you're an idiot.
Why?

Hey your preaching to the choir here man. I love my bike and since I also have the XT 225 which is a close cousin to the ttr I can honestly say the KLX opened up will blow the doors of my wife's bike.......well if they had doors.

I think it's the clothing it gets from the factory, iow, the way it looks. It looks like a serious very capable off-road machine with the same type of componentry- inverted forks, "fully" adjustable suspension, disc brakes. But in reality, you said it best as it's a great little campground/trail bike. But, as we all know with the right mods it can become a capable off-road bike.

rare? did you guys get platinum frames or something? about as rare as any other dirtbike from Japan. check cycletrader.com or ebay, they're plastered with them. they were rare in the fall of '05, but now, and the resale market is proving this, they're available immensely and for a lot less than 2 years ago. a rare kawi dirt bike would be the KDX220 or original KLX250R, throw in a KLX650R. those bikes are rare. LOL, it's still a campground bike big time stock and anyone whose ridden one knows how true this is.

You should have stopped writing in this thread while you were ahead. We were saying rare because we agreed with you, which is rare, not because we thought the KLX is rare. lol.....
