I use the contour 720hd(discontinued) they have 1080p now and onboard gps plus a few other features, I like the fact it is tiny compared to the Gopro---I bought the go pro HD and used it one ride, branches, twigs and sticks kept adjusting the camera for me, IE straight up in the sky, So I the camera back and traded in for the contour. The goggle mount is the best, the camera is basically mounted at my eye level.

I have found no need whatsoever for a 1080p camera since I watch all my vids on computers and youtube. 720p looks excellent to me,the video I posted is not hd unless you go to youtube and watch there, I think, LOL

Cool stuff. Why does the video periodically stop/jump even when the download bar is way out in front of play? I've noticed this on some but not others?
I've got my Hero2 and am getting set up to record some rides.

Default 2012 VCHSS Round 8: Blue Ridge II, Lap 1

Here's my hare scramble lap with a little bit of a change to the beginning, and reexported and uploaded in HD. If it doesn't play in HD automatically, view in HD if your bandwidth allows for it. Seems to look much more clear than the one before. After this, hopefully I've got the hang of using most of the gopro pixels.

+1 on the Contour!!! I have had the GPS model for about a year now - full 1080P plus altitude and speed info embedded in the video. I use it on my snowmobiles in the winter, and on dirt rides in the summer. The only caution is that the files are HUGE, and will have you wanting a bigger hard drive sooner than you might think. I DO take the cam on almost every ride, and I DO still watch videos quite often. The novelty of it hasn't worn off yet.

The Contour mounting options are endless, and the Contour form factor is WAY better than any of the GoPro cams. You can't even compare the flush-mount of the Contour to the GoPro mounting options! If you're hell-bent on the GoPro, you might as well just duct-tape a full-size point and shoot camera to the top of your helmet. It will look about the same, and should still stick out far enough to hit every branch, bush, and twig on the trail.
