IT'S ALLLLIIIVVVEEEE!!! AAAHAHAHHAAAA.. YAAA
haha.. Oh man what a relief. I don't even want to say what the problem was, let's just say "user error".. hahaaa
Anyways, started right up first second I pressed the magic button. Let it idle for a couple mins and shut it down.
Now to put the rest of the bike back together, give everything a once-over, and get back to ridin!
Thanks guys for all your help.

C'mon CL, let us know. All of us have left things unattached, missing, or stuck in the wrong way and have a no start after a repair or project. Save us the same error...LOL! Glad it fired up. Have fun again.

Alright.. There's a lead coming off of the starter motor - one black lead that is supposed to go to the starter switch.. There's also another split negative lead, one side coming from block, and the other coming off the wiring harness somewhere I think.
I don't know why, but I hooked up the starter lead to the battery, and the other ones to the starter switch.
The starter motor was spinning backwards just free-wheeling that gear with the one-way bearing. **DOH**
Switched them around and it started right up.

If the starter now turns the wrong way the clutch wouldn't engage.
One of these days I'll type down my story of bleeding BMW ABS brakes for the first time, and then what happened. Now THAT is a funny story. (it was very funny back then)

No kidding...we've all snafu'd things here and there if you've spent any time working on vehicles. I spent about 3 hours one Saturday evening in camp before an enduro trying to get a Husky 390 to run before Sunday's event. This bike was very reliable and fired quickly and always. I kicked...and kicked...turned carb sideways, pulled bowl, checked it closely...checked spark. Every thing was working. The old saying...fuel, spark, and air...I had all 3...or did I? Open up the airbox, and Doh!...a nice, clean, white, athletic sock is neatly stuffed in the 90 degree boot under the air filter. Like I said...it happens to all of us.
