Who carries a hand pump??

When i got a flat on the KLX and a buddy let me use his hand pump i was amazed how fast it got up to pressure. I will never leave without one now. The Key is a dual stage pump. It pumps air on both strokes of the pump, pushing and pulling... it pushes air the entire time. Had the rear tire pumped back up in less than 10 mins
This is the pump my buddy let me use which i have bought.

I would think a dual stage longer barrel one would push a huge volume of air. I would stay away from the short or mini pumps still fast but not as much air as the longer ones.

Yep, stay away from the mini-mini pumps and the ones that don't have a fold-out foot to stand on and those without a T-handle. Those that don't have a fold-out foot give you one of the most horrible isometric exercises you can imagine.

You might want to start your own thread with this question...unless you're using a using a hand pump to work on the sprocket.

Hey thanks guys! I ordered a Mountain Morph today! I have all the other necessary tools just gota pack em so when the inevitable happens I can deal with it. Dang, still can't figure out how to pack that bike jack, oh well. As always I appreciate the sage guidance.

I'm interested not just for flat repair, but for a more regular basis of airing up after for the ride home after air down trail stuff. I am getting into some stuff on occasion that is suited for the "air down". But at some point I have a 10-25 mile ride home on hard pack that is suited to higher pressure and lower wear, etc. Once 1 of those little CO2 cylinders is done, if you're not back in business after a flat you may as well grease it up and use it for a **** suppository IMO!

Shadetree, do you have the cane jack style of portable jack for the bike? If so, I mount mine like a crossbar with zip ties. My Renthal bar doesn't have a crossbar, but if it did, I could mount it the same. Look in the one pic of my bike, and you can see where I zip tie it. I put rubber bumpers over the ends of the cane jack to cushion it against the bar. I've been thousands of miles with this setup, and the cane jack has never moved or come loose. I put the fork end in that tail bag on the bike. I carry the Mountain Morph mini pump in my hydration pack, but there are many creative places to put the pump, similar to what I did with the cane jack.
