Two questions: Should I get new tubes when I change the tires and should I get it balanced afterwards?

I installed heavy duty tubes to reduce likelihood of flats. Do you have rim locks? They really throw a wheel off balance if only one per wheel is used. Lots of road use? If so, I'd consider having them balanced.

Unless there's a good reason not to go with heavy duty tubes I'll do that. No rim locks and I will be doing primarily road so I guess I'll get them balance.

if your not doing rim locks and your having a shop put the new tires on chances are you wont need them balanced. and for what its worth 70mph+ with my tires not balanced and its still really smooth at those speeds

Good to know. I wanted to do them myself but after hearing I should get them balanced I started to re-think it. So if you think I'd be good with just the tire change cool.

worst case scenario anyways you mount them yourself save the money there. and if they dont seem to feel right to you then you bring them in and have them looked at and make sure everything was done right. im just passing along the knowledge i have and what ive learned from my local shop i deal with. when i had them do my tires i asked to have them balanced and they said theyd be pretty much just taking my money for no good reason since they spun fine after being mounted

I stopped using HD tubes because of the weight... You can really notice the heaviness in the wheel (especially front). The HD tubes weigh probably triple what the regular ones do.
Not worth it for me, haven't had a flat it ages (knock on wood).

Brieninsac....Read my early post...Buy some good tires, get them Balanced, your life is riding on them...
But that's just me..200 bucks for good tires is worth it to me,and I change them at half tread,on both bikes, again just me,small price to pay for my life, everyone else is different...Like I said Night and day from those stock ones, and really smooth on the Slab..
