I do not know what happened to him, but to remove wheel bearings.
1. Clean every thing.
2. using a heat gun or good hair dryer. heat the hub.
3. tap out from behind or use a bearing puller.
to install
1. clean inside of hub.
2. put new bearings in freezer for 30 minutes.
3. heat hub with heat gun.
4. drop beaning in place.

FYI, service manual says there is a c clip on both sides of wheel there isnt, there is only one opposite side of the speedo side. Took c clip out, no heating required at all. There is a spacer between the bearings put it to the side a bit so its not lined up it gives you better area to wack the bearing, couple three taps and bearing comes out, then spacer falls out between the bearings. Flip the wheel over start hitting the bearing out, i think i didnt work it out evenly so one it was trying to come out cocked if you know what i mean. Then it just came out and took a chunk of wheel off too... ill take a pic later... Im still gonna use it, it seems ok how it is. for now. Closer inspection it looks like there was a crack already in the hub and i just finally made it crack all the way. The new bearings tapped in very easily. They were All ***** bearing kit from motorcycle superstore. Fit like a glove, i wouldnt heat or freeze anything...jmo. O well. it is what it is.

What indicated the need for a change? I mean I know nothing lasts forever, but just curious how the bearings felt after they were removed. Sorry man, this is not good news with the riding season just getting underway.

Trapped water and eventual rust and grease degradations are what kill wheel bearings.
Here's a maintenance trick to get your bearings to last the lifetime of the bike. I've done this as a part of bike setup on many bikes over 40 years, with never a wheel bearing problem despite some really severe tests like competitions through slimey creeks with axles submerged.
The trick is to solid fill wheel bearings with grease. The low rpm application allows that. No air in the bearings will keep the water water out because the beearing is 'liquid solid' allready.
Take a tiny flat-blade screw driver and work it under the lip of the seal at the inner race, then pop off the rubber seal. You may first have to remove a retaining ring to get at the seal. If you bend the overmolded steel washer when removing the seal, simply smash it back flat before you put it back on.
The best time to do this is when the bike is young and the grease in the bearing is still clean. If the bearing has gotten a little water in there and there's a little rust but no major damage yet, you can salvage the bearing. Blow out the grease with air pressure, clean with diesel or kerosene and air pressure, then pack it full with clean grease and reassemble. You don't have to remove the bearings to do this, even with deep cleaning. It can be done from one side.

FYI for anyone who has not removed the front wheel bearings... the outside of the bearing is sealed. but the inside of the bearings are open... The new bearings i put in were completely sealed, so they are better than stock. I was surprised when i took them off to see they were not sealed on the inside. Einfahrt, i like your idea, the way my bearings came out they would have been easily re-install-able once packed with grease.
Deej put your bike on the stand and raise it off the ground and grab the front wheel and see if it moves side to side.. just a little bit, if there is any wiggle the bearings need replaced. My rear ones are fine.
Thought someone on here might be able to part with a hub or wheel. Ill just keep my eye on ebay.

try looking at the stuff Keep it Roostin has over there on e-bay. They have all sorts of parts and since our wheels are the same as most kdx's and klx300's you might get lucky and they have just a hub.
