whats the mod that had made the most difference

Agreeing with Finger Mullet but would also add - Practice makes perfect. Take time to get a real feel for you bike, knowing when the power comes in and tails off again makes it easier to ride and lets you stay in the saddle longer. Practice sliding your bike round corners. This improves balance and puts a huge smile on you face when you get perfect. Also try jumping rocks, diving into a steep decent and my favourite- WHEELIES. All this should make you a wee bit faster.

Practice and drills.
Drill baby drill!
Big bores, carbs, and pipes are pretty nice too, but if you are a new rider, or even an old rider that maybe learned a lot of bad habits instead of good technique, some good instruction makes a lot more difference than mods to the bike. Then after you get comfortable and are feeling like you are really getting the hang of things, go race a few hare scrambles for a slice of humble pie and a reality check. Doing a few races can also help improve your riding a lot, not to mention expose the areas that you need to work harder on.
