Default RE: What was your first bike?

My previous bike was a '76 Yamaha DT-175.

I also had a Yamaha RD-100: 100cc 2 cylinder 2 stroke street bike. Never saw one like it before I had it, or after.

Before that, I had a Hodaka, but I'm not sure what model it was. It was 100cc, though, but not exactly like a Wombat. (I don't think it was a Super Rat, either)

There was also a "no-name" dual-sport bike that had a trailing link front suspension. To this day I still don't know what it was ... never really got it running well, though.

And then there were a couple mini-bikes, but I don't think they count.

I'd have to say then that my first "real" bike was the Hodaka. Well, that was the bike I did my first "Flying-W" on, so I guess that makes it official!

Hey LV that Harley is awesome, what a simple but tasteful design, I guess when all the talk was flying around about the 1200 and the other bike I didn't even take the time to look it up. That is a nice bike to say the least.

I loved riding those little Honda trail machines back when I was 7 or 8!
The first bike I owned looked just like this 1979 YZ80 - bought it in about 1989 - guess I was 13...

$350 CDN with a few broken spokes, but ran OK...
I swamped the motor in short order, and then bored her out to almost 110! And I did the tear down and rebuild myself! (Simple little 2 stroke, but hey I was proud of myself at 13)! Of course a machine shop did the boring, and got me the right piston/rings/bearings/etc.

My first bike was a '74 CB360. Got it in '77 when I was 15. Rode it in the lumber
yard parking lot across the street from my house. Actually got my first ticket ever on it.
Still 15, rode about a mile down the street to get gas and got pullled over coming back.

Rest of my bikes were:

'80 Suzuki DR400 dirt bike. Was not good at that.
'80 Kawasaki KZ650
'77 Harley Superglide
'74 Harley Sportster
'83 Kawasaki KZ650
'01 Kawasaki ZRX1200R
'05 Kawasaki ZRX1200R

Here's a pic of my CB360. That's my Uncle on it.

Wow this is erie. My very, very first motorized cycle was an old Honda trail. But my first "motorcycle" was a 1979 YZ80 just like yours. My parents hated it but I bought it with my own cash. I don;t have any pictures though but I still have the Clymer manual I bought for it 29 years ago!

Borrowing your photo, queenpdog, hope you don't mind ... mine was the z-50 in the background, but it was blue instead of yellow. Actually, my brother and I shared it - one bike for the two of us. That thing was a blast and would go go go. Tough as nails too, to survive our abuse for so long.
