My fastest was 92 mph. Stock bike on stock tires, and a very VERY strong tailwind. The wind was so strong infact that when I was riding into it earlier in the day, I had to struggle to get to 60 mph.

I'll never do that again.

I'm geared down a bit so I dont like to cruise over 60 too long if I can help it.

The KLX's achilles heel is long ascending (paved) grades. On steeper sections I'll have to drop down to 5th and hold the throttle wide open to hold 50 mph. That is the first bike I've ever had to have the throttle all the way open for any reason, thus I plan to go 300cc soon.

Thanks for the replys and yes I know its a dual sport bike and was never intended to do this kind of speed lol. I wish I had a gps to have seen actual speed but im not about to go out and try it again. That is if I could get that speed again would need the same conditions to do it again (tail wind lol). I have tryed twice before and never got over 152kph just wouldn't pull any more. The bike handled really well for the speed it was going but the back end seemed to squirm a little after 140kph but nothing really bad being its a dual sport on stock tires at 162kph. I am really impressed that the little klx can do that kind of speed because its power is really soft feeling.

My bike did 93mph with GF on the back first ride day. Have not had the inkling to go back to that again. That is with all the mods listed below though.

I'm in the 75+ indicated on the speedo gets scary club. Takes too much concentration to enjoy it for any period of time.

With mods 91mph on my Zumo GPS, uphill, HOT/MUGGY, into the wind, I ran out of room and nerves. I'm willing to bet I could hit 100 if I geared up a bit (she was screaming). Stock was around 75 flat out.

Mine is about 6 mph fast at 55 miles per hour. 61=55 according to my Garmin GPS.
