I was just looking into the Vortex throttle and see that most of you that have switched to this throttle used the stock pull cable with the Vortex. However, seeing that the pitch is different on the two matching up, I was wondering if any of you might know if one of the Motion Pro cables would match up to the 250KLX. I don't like to half-a$$ anything and although the stock cable and the Vortex can be forced together, I'd much rather prefer something that is guaranteed to fit. I notice on Motion Pro's site that there are aprox. 45 different kits for the Vortex (only difference being the cable provided) and was wondering if anyone might know if one of these will work.

Also, regarding the 1/4 turn thing, according to Motion Pro's site, the Vortex is a closed to WOT in 1/16 of a turn! Sheesh! This sounds great in theory, but do any of you find such sensitivity to be a problem when doing technical trail riding? Thanks guys....

I absolutely do find it a problem! I have a Magura 314 throttle, and it is right at a 1/4-turn throttle. Last fall I went riding on some really rocky, nasty trails. The combination of the throttle, pumper carb, and my 340 kit made the bike nearly unrideable on some of the loose, rocky trails. The throttle was simply an on/off switch when things got nasty. The result was that I looked like a complete noob and was more tired than if I had jogged the trails.

I'm looking to replace it with something like a CR Pro throttle - quicker than stock, but not much. The Magura is fun 90% of the time, but it's that other 10% that's going to get me hurt.

After trying many different throttles, I did like the way the Vortex fit and the way it was built better than anything else I tried. However, I have ended up with a Motion Pro Comp with a custom made cable from Jerry at FSW. I am satisfied with the results and the turn rate works very well with the rate of the FCR35.

I e-mailed Motion Pro tech to see if they had something in between our stock throttle and the Vortex--some kind of "middle ground". They suggested the revolver http://www.motionpro.com/motorcycle/..._throttle_kits whereby you can change out the reels to give you more or less throttle rate. Has anyone had any experience with this set-up? If so, results?
