Gday mate yes that original spelling info is in the Wiki. One of the reasons given for the Americans leaving it aluminum was that it is one less syllable, quicker/easier to say.

LOL you mean like really adopt the metric system which makes more sense than our English system? Maybe someday we'll get fully switched over, but right now I need two different sets of wrenches (metric and SAE) if I'm going to work on something. You never know which type of fastener you'll come across.

Dan just be happy I never started a car or bike company. My vehicles would come with patented 5 sided bolts so you have to buy my wrenches or take it to one of my "award winning" service facilities. Crescent wrenches would not even work. Your only resort would be pipe wrenches and vice-grips.

Oh yea and you could complain over a couple of my lagers which come with left hand threaded caps.
Just becuase.

Cheers Jim

So Jim...what's wrong with vice grips, hammers, and prybars?...and what are these things called "wrenches" that you speak of?

Jim I think some car companies come pretty close to doing things that way.

Can't remember his user name but one of my favorite signatures on here is " If you can't fix it with a hammer it's probably electrical". Kiwi I think.

Reading this thread just reinforces my belief that The Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome were actually documentaries...
