Breezy, you mention that you hate the OEM mirrors. Do you hate them because of appearance...or you can't see anything out of them...or what? Some don't care much about the mirrors at all other than running something to be legal. Some really want to see what's behind them. I fall into the later category. Most singles are absolutely horrible on allowing mirrors to provide good vision. Vibration is what it is. The best I've found to this point are the Honda 650L mirrors that have a little isolator unit near the bar mount. On both my KLR650 that I owned and the current KLX, they provide pretty darned good vision. When riding at a true singletrack venue I just remove the mirrors...either leaving them in the vehicle or tucking them in the rack bag or number plate bag. But when I'm in CO, UT, or other "out-west" riding venues, I just leave them on. There's usually a need for them when you're tying sections of trail or 2-track together and have to ride on pavement or heavily traveled dirt roads. I haven't seen a folding mirror that could provide really good rear vision. People are different, and that's why there are so many mirrors out there to fit our priorities.

Agree with TNC on the Honda mirror. I got one after his recommendation. Great viewing pleasure with little to no vibration. And the adjustment of the mirror itself is better than the stocker. I really like it. Remove it first if there is a chance of getting down on the ground.
The view from the doubletake I mentioned above isn't so great with revs up because of vibration. I can tell if my riding buddy is still back there or see if there's a car behind (but can't read the license plate number!). It sure can take a beating.

Here's another option. Tuff as guts in a get down.
