What I/you did today on the bike

The bike took me on a road (FS 4695) where it did better than me.
For the 1st couple miles it was fairly mellow.
Then I got to this spot:
Looking up
And looking down......
The bike could have gone further, but I'm not sure I should have. So got back on the really mellow roads and went home.
Went about 60 miles - much better than sitting around watching football.

I wish I had places to ride like that nearby. I discovered that I have been bottoming out my rear shock so I cranked the preload to near max. Monitoring shock stroke, front and rear, with zip ties. Makes for a different bike. Front wheel comes up easier with higher CG. Now front seems very under-sprung with much brake dive which I did not notice as much before. Acceleration feels more immediate. Seat is about an inch higher but I have lost my taste for low riding cruisers so it is ok. Just a little higher now. May explain why my boots/pegs touch down when cornering hard. I believe this Winter the rear shock will be going to racetech for their brand of magic & GV emulators and springs for my weight and style of riding up front.

Put the KLX on a diet!
Installed the smoke DRC Edge 2 with the 12oClockLabs processor board this evening. My 17 year old rides this bike, meaning safety is an issue for me, so I added the flush mount, smoke, LED turn signals that should be able to be seen from the side of the bike, also smoke, LED turn signals up front with the running light adapter. I was surprised how bright these smoke/amber lights ended up being.
Ordered all of this direct from 12oClockLads, called first with a boat load of questions. Owner was great, and everything came as he said. Easy install.
Lastly an easy pull billet clutch perch and lever from RSM.
Next up sprockets.

Snowed here yesterday. Uhg... So since I couldn't ride I spent some time wrenching on the bike.
Figured out why the back tire hopped/shook at anything over 100km/h. Turned out the PO put some sort of Slime like product in the tube that had clumped up around the valve stem. Changed the tube out and now its smooth to 120km/h. Do you guys bother balancing your tires or is it not worth it at the speeds we do?
Installed the new Ebay fork guards. Not all the holes were drilled and the ones that were drilled were too small. 5 min with a drill fixed that. Not bad for $20 shipped.
Also installed the DJ jet kit. Wanted to drill the choke circuit but I didn't have a drill bit near enough. Thought I did as I have a large kit with lettered/numbered bits but didn't have anything near that small. Ordered a few off of ebay today so I'll have them next time the carb is out. Now hopefully we'll have a few nice days that I can try it out before the snow sets in for good!

I got a new rear tire this week. Everytime I do, I get into it with the counter guy, "We don't balance any dirt tires".... He gets all upset like it a personal issue. This is wierd, he acts like I'm calling him out!
Then we look at the wheel and it's got wt's on it from the last change there.... He was gone (for the day) when I picked it up the next day, the owner's wife took care of the counter.
