Hey Frog,

for starters:

Spare Tube & Tyre Levers. Carry the tube in a tube bag on my front guard.
Tools, I carry with me on the bike: (backpack or bumbag)

8,10,12,13(13 for the rim locks) sockets and spanners
Allen Keys. I take 2 sizes.
Tie wire, cable ties, A small assortment of nuts and bolts.
Double ended screwdriver, phillips and flat.
Pointy Nose Pliers.
Small Roll of Gaffa Tape.
Spare Joining Link for Chain, Chain Breaker.
Spare Front Brake and Clutch Levers
Water, Snacks.
Most Importantly, Roll of toilet paper.

That should just about get you out of any bike dramas, if you need more than this your in real trouble..
I also take a full toolbox to leave at the base with all the extras I may need..

A good idea also is to get some filter skins for your air filter, have them ready to go, at the end of each day just whip off the old filter skin and put a fresh one on, leaving you with a nice clean air filter.

I'm sure people will add to it.

Cheers
Chris.

I usually go very minimal. Less is more! Usually the friends I ride with carry enough tools and gear to totally rebuild a bike! Ive rode my old KLR650 from Arizona to South America and lots of trips to Baja and never needed more than tire irons, tubes and lube - maybe I was lucky but it sure was nice riding a bike that wasnt overloaded with gear. If you do break down and dont have the parts or tools, well... thats when a trip becomes a real adventure. In the end its all about the stories.

Hey Deej, you might be building some more racks, seriously though what I take will get 99% of things done and the weight is not too badI'll weigh it and let you know what it weighs, I would think if you had a more serious repair to make, you'd probably be better off trying to find a service station or something.

Cheers
Chris.
