I need a new pair of boots. Last time I bought a pair was 5 years ago, just for riding the quad. Cheap pair of Fox boots. They are toast now.
I have been looking at Alpinestars Tech 8, but they sure get pricey at $400+
Are they worth the dough? I dont mind spending if they will last,. Or should I just buy another cheap pair and consider them disposable and buy again in a few years?
Whats everyone wearing/buying?

 

I have the tech 6's and they're a great boot($260). The thor quadrant is a good boot($150) that I just bought my son. Go over to Brockton Cycle on route 28 in Brockton. They have all the boots right there so you can try on all the sizes you want and the prices are comparable to most all internet stores. Pm me if you need directions.

 

I love my Thor 50/50 boots. They are holding up well. When I visit friends downtown, I just wear the boots out. Under jeans they look pretty much like normal boots.

My only issue is they are not waterproof. I only really noticed this during water crossings, so it may be a non-issue for you.

 

I've got a pair of A.star tech 6 and a pair of oneal element boots. both provide the same protection and are at each end of the price spectrum. I will say the advantage to the A.stars is that 1. they come in half sizes, and 2. they are confortable from the get go, requiring little break-in.

 

A few years ago one of the magazines did a study on boots and one of the things they said was that a few of the testers actually liked tech 6 better than the tech 8. I don't recall exactly what the article said but do recall it's why I bought mine. All boots are not created equal but that doesn't mean you have to go get a mortgage to buy a pair to get the protection your looking for. There are plenty of mid level boots out there that will get the job done.

 

Fox Trackers are serving me very well. 2 years on em and very little wear. Cheap too.

 

+1 for the Thor 50/50 boots. I've never COMPLETELY drenched my pair in water, but they seem pretty waterproof. They are very comfortable, fairly casual, light, and have great protection all-around.

I have a pair of AlpineStars.. I forget which Tech#.. They were ~$280.
They started out REALLY Stiff, (I was new to this riding boot thing though).
So I wore them around the house for a day or two and they are great.

I need some boots bad, i have been using steel toe dunlop volleys. Once i get some cash im gonna get me some boots, those fox ones look real good.
