They should be stock. The stock throttle will give you carpal tunnel or tendinitis from twisting it so damn much.

Plus, the angle it puts your elbow at when it's wide open is not proper technique...elbows up, not down. With the stock throttle, you end up with your right elbow pointing at the ground when you're WOT.

I'd start some forearm training though, you'll need it...agree it's a tad more difficult to twist and hold. It's worth it.

Increases response too, no matter what IG says. How could it not? I twist less, to open throttle slide more....bike goes faster, sooner.........end of story.

I have been very happy with it.
After a ride or 2 you forget you have it as it becomes "normal"
But I bet if I swapped back the bike would "feel" un-responsive.

Back to the '09 question -- has anyone done this on the '09? Do you just bypass the factory housing where the cables enter?

So let me get this right...I am to order the Vortex throttle for the KLX300R (they are speciifc to make and model of bike). I am also supposed to leave the "push" cable off? Doesn't this affect the throttle return speed at all? I just read the Motion Pro Tech area on their site. They warn against using a Vortex throttle on a "push-pull" type throttle. Please help me understand. P.S. I would be installing it on an 09, if it matters.

Well mine works fine with no return cable.
I think that it's a safety thing and they don't want to be sued if it all goes to putty.
The return spring works well and it actually is/feels tighter with the vortex throttle.

Yeah I was looking at that on mine, I have yet to figure out why you need a return cable. That spring on the carb is super strong.

OK, now you guys got me interested. I just read up on these. I didn't see a KLX specific model. I did however see just a universal kind. Is that what everyone got? And you just use the one cable for it?
