A good buddy of mine bought a Versys Saturday. Nice looking bike and comfortable to ride. Took her out and gave it some gas in 3rd. Boom I'm doing 110 kmh. Whoa, oops not a little 250 like I'm used too. It's not like riding a Ninja but it definately is a fun bike. He's going to buy some tires and hit a few logging roads with us this weekend.

I agree they are a very practical bike

BUT in AUS they are too expensive and dispite rave reviews are not selling well at all because you can buy bikes like the Triumph street triple for the same price which has alot more to offer.

 

my buddy bought one, let me take it for a spin, very comfortable bike. i like them too.

 

My wife has one and I'm about to buy one. It's a great ride. The Street Triple has more to offer in terms of sporty perfromance, but not in terms of versatility, comfort, or everyday useability/practicality/economy. I've had a bunch of bikes, of all kinds. The V is the best all-around, balancedbike I've ever had. FWIW.

 

You guys must be long-legged. I jumped on one at the dealership and had to tip-toe it, and I'm 5'11" tall. I love the looks of it, but it's a bit too tall, and I'm afraid - top heavy for my taste.

 

You've been spoiled by that Ninja 250 which weighs less and has what, a 27 inch seat height?

 

It is a big step from the 250, but it's more than doable. The V is actually my wife's. She's all of 5'05", w/a 28" inseam. We lowered the front a couple of inches and put on a low seat. She's perfect on it. Loves it.

I'm 6', give or take. I find the seat height no problem. On the contrary, one of my only complaints w/the bike, albeit small, is that I wish there was a bit more legroom between seat and pegs. A minor thing.

 

Top heavy? Compared to what? V-twins are not top heavy,when compared to a 600 - 650cc inline four. Seat height? Anthing is too tall if you are using a Ninja 250for comparision.

To the guy who compares the Versys to a Street Triple, how can you make that comparision other than with price?TheTriumph isfocused almost 100% on the tarmac while the Versys is designed have a blend of on/off road, city and open road capability.

Also, I acknowledgeAustralia's closer ties with the UK and hope you don't take this wrong, but I've never been overly impressed with the quality (read long-term reliability)ofBritish automotive or motorcycle products.

 

how about you pull that stick outta your *** and calm down. he was just making a general statement on how the versys is doing over there. there's no need to pull an ig and jump all over him.

 

I'm looking to sell my Tiger 1050, as a matter of interest. What I like, I really like. But, it has some issues...Also, the Versys is a parallel twin, not a V-twin. I don'tthink it's top-heavy, but you can feel some movement at a stop w/a full tank of gas. It'll sway side-to-side a bit. Wierd feeling...
