Using a KDX air intake on a KLX 250S
I keep seeing guys saying they are usuing a KDX 200 air intake. From my impression of what I read I took it to mean they got the whole lid. However, after seeing pictures, it doesn't look like the lids match up............or do they? or maybe they need slight modifcation?
What seemed most likely was they just got the snorkel from the KDX and popped it in in the KLX 250S lid.
Anyone know for sure?

This is precisely what you do, the KDX snorkel fits the stock KLS250S lid perfectly with no mods required.

Ok...what year KDX snorkel? I assume the 2000-2006/2007 (whatever year they quit making them)
Or is it the KDX 220 snorkel? I know the KDX 220 is the same as the KDX 200 for 2003-2005, but before that it was different, and after that...well I don't know if there was an "after that" beyond 2005. I think they quit making those too.

KDX Snorkel
I ordered mine 3/4/08 from RonAyers.com.: item #14073-1577 $22.07. I don't remember what year KDX 200 it fit. I stayed with the snorkel because of water crossings. After dropping the bike in a creekbed, the snorkel was enough to keep the airbox above water. With the KDX snorkel and stock exhaust mod, you'll need to rejet. You need to rejet anyway because the bike is so lean from the factory. You can get a jet kit from DynoJet or order OEM parts from Kawa at half the price. Plenty of info on this site as well as others as to what jetting combo works best. While you're at it, don't forget to y the two carb vent hoses to run extra hoses up under the seat or gas tank. These a must for long, deep water crossings.
