I have an 07 klx250s and its a great little bike. I just did a full rebuild on the motor and it purrs like a kitten. However, ALL my plastics are so highly corroded and oxidized that even using the razor blade method to scrape and then heat gun to try to restore them is proving to not be very effective...
After countless hours online I am only finding aftermarket plastics for the 09+ model years. So I have two questions I was unable to find answers for after using the forum search. (may not be searching the correct phrases).

1. Are they any aftermarket options for the 06-07 models?
2. The few threads I did see about upgrading the 07 to 09+ body panels said it was not possible but left it at that. I am under the impression that the frame remained the same from 06-07 to the 09+ model years, if so i would think there was a way to use the on my bike.. even if it means needed to upgrade the fuel tank so i have new mounting points for the plastics, etc.

Any advice would be great..

Check ebay for panels, your lucky as some companies make aftermarket panels for pretty cheap

 

I went through the same thing with my 09. Finding body panels for these bikes is part art, part science. I eventually used a mix of Partzilla for the side panels, and ebay for the headlight fairings. If your panels are still sound but just badly faded, why not think about coating them? I am sure a lot of guys here can give advice.

 

I got a set of side panels for my 07 last year on ebay. Shipped from china, came in 2 weeks or so, and fit and look great!
