I'll have a look at that spark tonight. I know I wasn't delivering fuel anywhere after looking at what came out of my carb when I tore it down. May have been delivering a combination of fuel/water - but nothing even remotely flammable.

Someone else who knows more could chime in on the KACR, but I recall reading a post describing fairly wide "good" compression range depending on how the KACR is working on YOUR bike. Good luck.

Get a can of starting fluid.
refer to first post. Get a can of starting fluid, check for spark, spray and see if it will burn the ether.

The KACR is rpm dependant and lifts the exht valve. Each bike is going to be different, no way you get a reading that means anything with a KACR. If it doesn't run, yoiu need a spark & fuel. Sounds like your carb needs to be completely cleaned. If you don't have a spark, you'll need to work on that.
Why are you worring about compression?

It actually ran while under water. It sucked an amazing amount of watery muck into the crankcase and the stuff that came out of my exhaust when I got it home was roughly orange. When it didn't start after drying out I was immediately worried that grit had invaded the cylinder and done some damage with me cranking it.

I know for sure it had fuel issues (re: yesterdays teardown on the carb). Haven't checked the spark yet.

update: the spark is nice and blue. No issues there. Tomorrow carb is going back in and the tank has fresh fuel.

Be sure to pull the pilot jet out and inspect it. While it's out, spray some brake or carb clearner into the hole the pilot jet sits in. You should get spray coming out of 4 very small holes in the carb body where the bottom on the throttle plate lines up.

Good luck!

Ride on

Thanks Brewster. I'll check that specifically.

She's still sitting in the barn. A leakdown test showed 50% loss. And, it's all through the exhaust. Either assorted muck is holding a valve open or I may have bent an exhaust valve stem.

I took the head cover off last night and everything on top looks good and moves easily. Tomorrow, given time, the head will come off and check to see what's happ'nin on the under side of that head. I won't be too ticked if I need to buy a couple valves - could be much worse.

Hey, does anyone know if the Kreiger MCCT needs to come all the way off or can I just loosen it to remove the head?

Thanks again
