Why is your bike so low? The dings and scratches add character to the bike but I would toss the front fender bag since it blocks some of your headlight.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy myself. In fun, the bike has well payed for itself. But it's when I stop after riding, and while washing I get to think about all the scratches or dings I put in the ol girl that day.

I had the bike lowered to suite me.
As you can see in the pic, even though I have had the bike lowered about 40mm, it still tallish for me.
The fender bag holds the spare tube, pump and pressure gauge.
I don't use it at night so it's not really a problem for me.
It wasn't so bad with the stock light.

The better a rider you are, the less need you have to put your feet on the ground. In any rough stuff trail riding you should be standing anyway.

Nope, not at all.
I'm just saying that once you get used to you're bike, which I'm sure you probably are, you can think about raising the bike back up again to give yourself more travel and ground clearance. You wanna ride like trials, and try and do everything without trying to put your foot on the ground.
Sometimes it's just impossible, but I find the better I am getting at manouvering around without sitting with my crutches hangin out to the side the more fun I have.
I'm no pro driver that's for sure. Just trying to up other people's fun factor meter ;-)

Thank goodness for that.
I'm trying to keep that a secret.

Lowering the bike has little to do about making it easier when your moving.
But when you have to stop, well thats a whole different ball game.

To be honest, it was the deciding factor when I opted for the KLX over other bikes.
Casual trail riding on a bike that's too tall loses it's appeal after a while.

And another thing is, I had the suspension firmed up and re-valved so the only thing I have really lost is ground clearance.

My advise to any one is the same as it was to me from the people who did the lowering for me.
You will wonder why you put up with it for so long.
They were right.
