Default Two up riding....

I'd like to take my wife for a quick cruise around town. I'm pushing 180 pounds and I won't say what the wife weighs but we're both well past our college weight if you know what I mean .

Can the KLX take it? What's the max weight I can put on the bike without breaking anything?

According to the owner's manual the '09 can carry 399 pounds. That's fuel, rider, passenger and luggage.

Me at 160 and the wife at 110 are able to easily merge onto multilane state highways and get up to the required 70 mph with the same acceleration authority as any other sedan. We did a 70 mile cruise one day last summer when the bike was totally stock. That cat converter equipped muffler does get hot so she'll need to be a little bit careful about it.

My SF is not my only bike. I took the girlfriend for one ride. We both agree, its a one person bike. My 19 year old son agrees, but he will still ride on the back. Together we are at about the bikes limit.

i ride two-up with my lady quite often. weight doesnt seem to be as much of an issue as the small size of the bike itself. our feet bump quite often and she slowly slides into me pretty consistently, then i slide towards the tank making it less enjoyable. we both still enjoy it, and it is fueling me eventually buying a bigger bike.

I'm at 250 and the wife is 120, and it carried us just fine, then she got her own bike. (That she never rides anymore.... )

I used to use Armor All on the rear portion of the seat of what ever motorcycle I had at the time. Hard breaking with a female passenger was "enjoyable".
