Default twisted wrong way!!!!

Well I was out playing in the sand the other day trying some "sweeping donuts?". You know--- bike leaned way down, foot down for support and given' her! Well I was leaned maybe a bit too far and losing traction and just about to drop so to regain uprightedness in a hurry I let back on throttle and gave a good push to the bike upwards. Well it worked but.......in the whole process I twisted throttle hard in wrong direction which ended up with a SNAP

Not as serious as I thought tho....Had lots of throttle freeplay but everything still working!!!?????? It was the cable that pulls the carb closed. Apparently this is not a vital cable to operation---thank god! I ended up with maybe 3/4 inch freeplay tho. Readjusted main cable and now everything is as it was.

Now for the big question: Should I buy a replacement cable?
I think this is just a safety feature to pull the carb closed. But how many bikes out there have this? Not many I'm thinking. So I really don't feel like replacing this cable. I see no difference in operation or tension. Throttle snaps closed just as quick as before.

Any views or thoughts?

If your going to eliminate it you might as well get a quarter turn single cable throttle.

Yep, go the Vortex and lose the return cable.

And if the throttle gets stuck and you end up hurtling out of control and into a tree............. lesson learned.

Have had that problem before except in my drag sandrail. ended up catching alot more air than I was expecting with a hard landing. Look at it this way you could always pull in the clutch or flick that kill switch...

lol, thats funny.

I'd get a fcr 35 carb....the throw is way shorter, no vortex wanted...and a 351 piston and be done with it.

The return cable is required of manufacturers of street liscensed motorcycles. That's why it's on there probably 50 years ago somebodies throttle stuck on the street and they made it law.
