Default Tube suggestions.

Howday yall! I bought some Dunlop 606s and realized they are much bigger than the stock tires. I'm not sure if the stock tubes are big enough for the new tires and I'm also thinking I should carry an extra pair anyway. But I have no idea what tubes I should get!

Rear tire size is 120/90-18

Front is 90/90-21

Edit: I was looking at the Rocky Mountain site and they didn't have the exact same size as the tires otherwise I would of ordered those. I think they offered a 100/100-18 and a 80/100-21

I'm 'guessing' that your stock tubes will fit okay. But when I reskinned, the stock tubes were replaced with slimed heavy duty tubes. I carry the old stock front 21" tube with me. A 21" tube will fit in the 18" rear in a pinch.

I know on Mountain Bikes the size really doesn't matter as long as the diameter is correct.

It's a stretchy rubber inflated tube. The diameter is all that matters. That said, replace your tubes with the HD or UHD tubes from Rocky mountain. That's what I did when I moved to the 606s. If you choose to carry a tube for some crazy reason then a 21 can be stuffed into am 18" rear tire but an 18" can't go into a 21" so carry only the 21.

A flat tire will ruin your entire ride and a good flat prevention program is worth every penny. I got serious after riding 70 miles on a flat front to finish an enduro. Here's my flat prevention program:

Good tires like the 606.
Run high air pressure, like 20 psi all the time.
HD tubes, these are 3-4mm thick, and cost like 20$ each.
rim locks front and rear, the KLX already has the holes in the rim for them.
Add slime per the directions to seal up big puncture wounds.

Since I started the above procedure I haven't had a flat. This has been years and many many races where at least half of the riders had flats.

The most common cause for a flat tire is the snake bite aka pinch flat. It is when you bonk into something so hard that the tire pushes against the rim edges and pinches the tube in between. You can have up to four little holes in your tube in one spot.

I don't fix flats on the trail. It is hard enough to do them at home in the shop with big irons. Ride it out.

So far, no! But I haven't done much off roading yet. So far I really like the set up and haven't found it too soft or anything. I don't know what the complaints are about, this bike works!

You have to understand though, besides ~10 miles on a KDX200, this is the first modern bike I have ridden. If I could take this bike back in time to when I raced a 74YZ 125, I would SMOKE everyone! lol

And it beats the heck out of that 69 Hodaka Ace 90!

Am considering going tubeless, and want to compare weights between my HD tubes and the tubeless system.
Don't want to pull out my tubes to weigh them
Manufactures don't seem to list weights
Does anyone know the rough weight of HD tubes?
