Truck blew up, KLX saved me.

Truck blew up, KLX saved me.
One of the reasons I purchased the KLX was to have a back up ride just to do practical stuff like get to work if the event my 1994 Toyota truck broke down. Well 7 months later that day has come and come in a big way. My head gasket blew on my truck today, ouch, antifreeze in the oil, the works. Luckily I caught it fast and it should be ok to fix from a friend in about a week. It happend all of a sudden though and in a flash I had to turn to my KLX in the dark cold rain to get me to work. Feels good. A little wet but feels good.

Awesome, its nice to have a back up. My wife has the 2006 XT 225 so I guess I have a back up of my back up. I worry about my truck breaking down, I mean yea its a Cummings diesel, 1999 dodge 2500 4X4 with only 112,000 miles but the fuel pump alone can be over $1200.00

Yep, that was me out there at about 3pm getting beat to death in the rain, although it was warm. First time I had really ridden it in the hard rain like that and it wasn't to bad. I had some good gear on which makes all the difference. Felt like a real adventure ride for my 15 miles to work though. The real test is the ride home at midnight, with wet gear and a heck of a lot colder.

But I'm glad you had your back-up ready for such an emergency. I have a freakin' ford Taurus, and I'm sure one of these days the transmission will go out on it. (like on all Taurus cars) So, both my backup bikes will be ready just in case.

Day two of the winter commute. It's not to bad when I'm dressed properly. Tonight was low 40's in light rain and I stayed pretty warm. I think everything is going to work out just as long as it doesn't get into the 30's and start getting slick. Don't worry. I won't blog about this everyday, I was just a bit suprised about riding it in winter like weather and feeling comfortable. I've done a lot of winter sports so I know what it's like to be out in the cold and harsh mountain conditions, but it's a bit different with the wind chill of a motorcycle.
