Thanks rimbender. You deserve a beer for that. I am a civil engineer for a city and have a goto guy to adjust the loops at our maintenance shops. We are now going to video triggers to eliminate the old magnetic loops and I'm not sure how they handle small bikes. The loops are a PITA when we repave, run utilities, or need to make changes.

I was suprised when there was finally a garage that let me in, but the attendant had to run out with an old street sign and wave it over the sensor to raise the gate, so I could exit. Pretty comical stuff!

Most of our intersections that aren't timed have a overhead sensor that looks like some sort of loop coil that is about 8" in diameter, so you just have to make sure you are directly beneath it. Somethimes they provide a button to push for "2 wheeled vehicle use."
What happens if we get http://www.magnet4less.com/product_i...?products_id=3

this and melt it onto the skid plate? It should pick us up every time right?

I've tried the kickstand trick but it's never worked for me. I was putting the stand down on top of the wire though. I'll try again in the middle of the loop and see if that makes a difference. There is a light about a mile from my house that absolutely will not recognize my bike. I usually make a right and cut through a gas station parking lot if there are no cars around.

The camera's will work fine but there is a little learning curve if you've never played with them. Let the manufacture rep help you set them up initially, there are some tricks.

Just found this, with the magnet idea. It may help, but I can't try it, no 2-wheelers. :'(
