Isn't the KLX 450 and the KLX 450F two different bikes? One is a race bike and the other is a trail bike, no comparrison. The F will eat the Trail bike everytime. But what do I know I am still a noob.

poodlenute- yes, I had an '87 KX 80 and a friend had a CR 80 and I agree they have way more get up and go, but I doubt they will push 22-23 horsepower or top 90 mph. the 2-stroke 80's to me are nearly unrideable since I was on a 125 MX'er and now this. they're just not smooth, it's a sudden hit that can be lethal to an otherwise inexperienced youngster. put a pumper and a 300 kit on the KLX and I'm sure it's a different machine. I hope to do the 300 if I keep it this year.

RE: Trade in one of the klx's
Here is what I read www.dirtrider.com/tests/offroad/141_0703_kawasaki_klx_450/ - 46k The transmission is geared to the moon and top speed has to be over 100 mph. I couldn’t find a road long enough to hit the rev limiter in fifth. I thought this was going to be a problem in the tight stuff, but, since it makes a million horsepower the bike will hardly stall, even if you try. I cruised in third gear, silently, and could pull out of some deep, soft corners with a little clutch. This is going to be a fun bike to learn about in the next few days. Wow just that's pretty a lot of horse shoes hitting the dirt, lol for a good minute.
