Turbo's reply to Hotness' letter is good.

Reading his responses is awesome. Another way to pass the time. Reminds me of Super Hunky (I think that's what his name was) in Dirt Bike magazine back in the 70's and 80's, or Mr. Know it all.

As far as having a date, not yet. Still planning. I know this ride is big and there is a lot that goes into it. I would imagine the hotels alone will be around $800 and just guessing $400 to $500 for food and gas. As far as gear goes, I have adventure gear. On the DR now I have Mule Pack panniers and I also have Wolfman expedition bags, neither of which would be good for this ride, so either some GL Mojavi bags or Wolfman day or E-12 bags. I've got to figure out the most unobstrusive way to carry an extra gallon of gas unlike the way wazzu did it on advrider, although buying a gallon can just for that long stretch would be an inexpensive way of doing it. Another thing he did that I can't, I'm too short to ride with a tank bag, I end of getting too intimate with it. I have a wolfman enduro tank bag and usually remove it halfway through the ride because it restricts my movement too much. GL's tank bag is better though as it ride further forward. A GL coyote may be the way to go also, or do you think that would be too big? I guess you don't have to fill it up all the way. I would really rather have a competent rider to go with, but I've ridden by myself a lot too though.

How tall are you? Just curious. I use a wolfman enduro on the Acerbis tank and it never comes off (6'1", 34" inseam). I think the coyote would be a good option because you don't need to fill it yet have room. I didn't notice what wazzu did for fuel, but I've carry extra in 1.5L primus bottles when needed. Much of the 3rd world carries fuel around in 2L soda bottles!

edit - was wazzu the one who got fuel all on his clothing? I'm recalling something . . .

5'6" with a 30 inch inseam. When dirt biking I have a reputation for standing up all the time. it's because when I put a foot down to save myself, by the time it makes contact, the bike is leaning too much and I fall over. Then I usually get teased that when standing, the boys are only 2" off the seat, so hard to tell when seated or standing.
This is a good thread with tons of info, including using a fuel bladder and wazzu's thread:

I didn't read these again, but was that the bladder from justgastanks? Martin ran with one strapped over his head. I think they originated from Australia and are no longer available in the states. I think on FB a while ago Martin said there may be a new fuel solution on the way.

And you have the Super Hunky name right. I picked up his book Monkey Butt. Good read! Order a signed copy from his website.
