Default Torque wrench question

I bought a torque wrench without checking all my socket sizes. It's a 1/2" wrench and all my sockets are smaller and they won't fit.

Will I affect the torque wrench readings if I use an adapter to fit my sockets to the 1/2"?

It's a craftsmen beam wrench, $30.

Or I could just buy socket set that will fit on the 1/2" driver of the torque wrench. but I'm a cheap bastard and I don't wanna.

It shouldn't make any difference.Rotational force is force x distance from centre. The coupling shouldn't effect things at all.

Get yourself a 1/2" to 3/8" converter. I've got the 3/8" wrench with a 3/8" to 1/4" converter. They came as a package.

Call me a moron...

But with all the small aluminum parts and stainless steel bolts..I wouldnt risk it with a 1/2" drive....Fine for the big stuff...But good luck getting that tank of a wrench in small areas...Most likely you will have to use an adapter then an extension.....Too risky....

I agree though. A 3/8" drive wrench has plenty range for this application and you can step it down to 1/4". I'm not sure the 1/2" wrench will go low enough for most bike applications. What is the lowest range on your 1/2' je2000? Realistically it should go as low as 5 Nm for most applications on this bike (KLX250.)

Adapters are fine... But I can't get by with only one torque wrench.
I need a small one for the little engine bolts and such (5 to 20 Nm or so).
And a big one for wheels and the bigger torque items.
