Default Top Speeds?

09 KLX250S was able to muster a 91 mph on the digital speedo. It didn't seem like it...could the calibration be off?

Wink

It very well could be...they say the 2006 and 2007 models are off ..but only by a bit (less than 10 MPH) from what I remember. Have you got a GPS?..if so strap that on there somehow and compare.

No gps yet. Only freeway observations. The Husky's speedo is on back order.

But thinking that 91 ain't bad, the te450 can only get 103 w/ 15 x 46 gearing.

Yeah fastest I've gone is 65, seemed pretty acurate vs. traffic at that speed. I know the motor has more in it, I just don't like running the motor flat-out screaming like that, especially in the stupid-lean factory carb setup.

Now once I order my Muzzy full exhaust and the DJ rejet kit..... mua ha ha....

That would seem a bit off to me. I've only registered about 73 mph on my '07 and I was 'white knuckling' it at that point. I could probably get to around 80 mph but I think the KLX would be dangerous and un-managable at that speed. The bike isn't designed for that type of speed nor are alot of dual-sport tires.

*mental note to self* Better check speed rating on kawi tires!

118 lbs rider aboard, stock gearing & tires, no wind, cool weather yeah 91 might be a stretch....still curious about it though.

Ive gotten to 80mph, or at least thats what my speedo says. It got there quickly, and would've pulled higher easily.

My KLX with 14/48 will only get about 130kms on the GPS, but about 145 on the speedo.

I think when my speedo reads 110 kms, I'm actually doing very close to 100. So mine is about 10% off.

Oh and another thing.... 118 lbs!!!??? That's without gear right? I thought the bike felt slightly big for me at 155lbs (w/o gear), 5'5"
