Default top speed stock "s"

Just bought a new black klx250s

no mods.. broke her in gently for past 400 miles..
opened her up on highway last night.. I weigh 225 lbs, on flat freeway she topped out at 82 mph, and I could feel that she had a little left to give but I backed off! Is this good for a stock 250s? I have read alot of posts that some will go no faster than 75 mph.. I plan on puttin on a megabomb, q4, dynojet, and kdx 200 duct next week.. how fast should I expect her to go then? any one have any experience with that type of mod?

Don't forget to account for the 10% speedometer error. That puts you right at about 75. Uncorked, I saw 92 indicated (83 actual) on mine before I geared it down. Top speed will vary quite bit with wind direction and speed on these little bikes, laying down on the tank helps a little.

How stable was the s model at that speed? I get a decent vibration or twitchiness at about 55 and up. I have no problem running at highway speeds with my bike, not that I really like to but sometimes you need to for a short distance.

82?!!! Was that downhill? LOL Well I weigh 250, and with the full pipe and jetting, and gear changes, I can hit 70 but that's pushing the rpm's a bit. Love the low end power. Welcome to the forums, post up an intro in the new member area.

82mph on the speedo is about as fast as it gets (73.8mph actual). Also the speedo has a 10% error from the factory, so make sure to subtract a 10% difference. I have gotten mine up to 70mph GPS, but that was on a nice day and flat road.
